Commissioned by Sidewalk Detroit for its Now:Future summer series of public art events, this piece is an original dance piece by dancer/choreographer Marsae Mitchell. Taking inspiration from the songs and words of Nina Simone, Mitchell crafted a poetic and choreographed response to the institutions of white supremacy that have affected and continue to affect people of color.
